Harrisons is delighted to announce that we have achieved Planet Mark Business Certification for the third year running – a significant milestone that highlights our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. This achievement reflects the real progress we’re making on our journey towards sustainable wiping solutions, while continuing to deliver high-performance products trusted by businesses across the UK.
A big step forward on our sustainability journey
Between April 2024 and March 2025, we achieved a 52.9% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions at our Romford site, driven in part by our switch to 100% renewable energy. We also expanded the scope of our carbon measurement to include more areas of our value chain, giving a fuller and more transparent picture of our overall environmental footprint.
How we got here:
- 52.9% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions at our Romford site.
- 100% renewable energy introduced at Romford, cutting electricity-related emissions by almost 90%.
- 46% reduction in material waste, with less than 1% of all waste going to landfill.
- Partnership with Magnum Logistics, ensuring all raw materials are stored in a BREEAM-certified building with 25% solar panel roof coverage.
- Installation of 80% LED lighting at Romford, with plans to reach 100% coverage by the end of 2025.
What Stephen had to say:
“Three years of Planet Mark certification is another fantastic milestone. It reflects the progress we’re making on our sustainability journey and marks another big step forward in what has been a landmark year for the business. Alongside the launch of our Industrial Range, our new logistics partnership with Magnum, and the acquisition of Ecotech’s business and assets, this is yet more evidence that Harrisons is setting the standard in wiping.”

More sustainable options
This year, we have also expanded our range of sustainable wiping solutions to give our customers more environmentally friendly options without compromising on performance. As part of our new Industrial Range, we launched the plastic-free Prem 100 and Tech 100 wipes, made with Sontara® materials, adding to an already growing portfolio of eco-conscious products.
Our existing sustainable offering includes J-Cloth® Compostable wipes, produced with 100% natural biodegradable fibres from PEFC-certified sources, and the Sontara EC® Green, a fully compostable wipe made from 100% cellulosic and renewable materials. By innovating in this way, we’re helping businesses across industries — from aerospace and automotive to healthcare, foodservice, industrial cleaning, and printing — reduce their environmental footprint.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, our focus remains on continuous improvement. We will keep working with Planet Mark to measure, report, and enhance our environmental performance year after year. Beyond reducing emissions, we’re also committed to supporting our wider community. Through our partnership with The Hygiene Bank, we’re donating 15,000 wipes every month to help individuals and families who struggle to afford essential cleaning products. For us, sustainability isn’t just about lowering carbon — it’s about making a positive difference to people’s lives and the world around us.
With three consecutive Planet Mark certifications, a rapidly expanding range of eco-friendly wipes, and ongoing investment in greener practices, Harrisons is proud to be setting the standard in sustainable wiping solutions.
