Bacteria Found in Restaurant Cloths

10 Mar 2014

"Dishcloths Used In Restaurants Harbour Unsavory and Possibly Dangerous Bacteria" says the Heath Protection Agency (HPA)

The HPA visited 120 kitchens in North East England and found 56% of cloths tested were unacceptable as 86 carried faecal bacteria, 21 carried E. coli, six carried Staphylococcus aureus and five carried Listeria.

To improve these poor hygiene practices, Harrison Wipes recommend Chicopee Lavette Super, one of the few colour coded hygiene cloths on the market that has FCC approval (Food Contact Clearance). This means:

  • Lavette Super complies with the rules of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of materials intended to come into contact with food.
  • Lavette Super is available in five different colours supporting HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) conditions.
  • Lavette Super is a heavy duty multi purpose wipe with an open structure giving it superior dirt pick up and promotes anti-bacterial activity.
